ADVANCED MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE IN THE BIBLE
“Moses was raised and educated in the palace of Pharaoh in the 15th century B.C. Egypt was clearly the most advanced society on earth at that time - yet in spite of their knowledge in engineering, architecture and astronomy, their level of medical knowledge was primitive and dangerous.
For example, an Egyptian doctor's prescription for healing an infected splinter wound involved direct application of an "ointment" containing "worm blood and donkey dung." The cure for snake bite was "magical water" poured over an idol, then given to the patient to drink.
The Egyptian Papyrus Ebers contains a detailed list of popular prescriptions, including: lizards blood, swines teeth (shades of Macbeth!), putrid meat and fats, moisture from pigs ears, milk, asses hooves, and excrement from donkeys, antelopes, dogs, cats, flies and people. The death rate from infections was exceptionally high, with such advice coming from medical doctors.
Moses, as a prince in the family of Pharaoh himself, would certainly have received this bizarre medical training as part of his overall education (Acts 7:22).
However, the first 5 books of the Bible collected and written down by Moses (the Torah) contain no trace of these well-documented Egyptian "cures." Rather, THE AUTHOR EXHIBITS KEEN KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF INFECTION, SANITATION, CLEANLINESS, QUARANTINE AND THE TREATMENT OF SORES AND WOUNDS THAT WOULD NOT BE "DISCOVERED" UNTIL THE LATE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURIES A.D.!
Infectious germs, viruses and bacteria were not identified or defined in the Bible, but the promise is made that if the laws of hygiene, quarantine and cleanliness are obeyed, sickness and disease would be kept to a minimum. "He said, "If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I Am the LORD, who heals you." Exodus 15:26.
Where did Moses obtain this incredibly advanced medical knowledge? It obviously did not come from the Egyptians or any other pagan culture! These sanitation techniques were unknown outside of the Bible, and were only sporadically adhered to by Jews and Christians over the centuries. When they were followed, radically better health was enjoyed by all. When these principals were ignored, suffering, disease and death were rampant.
Only in the last century has science "caught up" with the Bible, and identified the physical reasons for the sanitary law's existence. There is no rational explanation for Moses having this knowledge other than what he himself claimed "... thus saith the LORD God..." Exodus 5:1.”
